good to lick your fingers (fasting)

  • 1 packet puff pastry
  • 1 jar of quince jam
  • 100 gr ground walnuts
  • oil for greased tray

Servings: 6

Preparation time: less than 90 minutes

RECIPE PREPARATION Donuts with quince and walnut jam:

Take the dough and spread it on the table lined with flour, in a 1 cm thick sheet and in the shape of a circle. Quince jam is mixed with ground walnuts. The dough in the shape of a circle is cut into triangles from the center of the circle to the edges. On each triangle, at the wider end (at the base of the triangle) put a mixture of jam and walnut and jam and roll to the top. Place in the oven in a pan greased with oil in the preheated oven for a maximum of 20 minutes.

Quince jam with walnuts

The quinces are washed well with down, cut in half to remove the stalks and seeds and put on a large grater, mix with sugar, water and boil.

When it starts to bind, add the walnuts and lemon cut into slices or cubes and continue boiling until you get the desired consistency and a well-bound syrup. When it is ready, turn off the heat, let it cool a little, then put it in the washed jars and dry well beforehand and close tightly.

To check if the jam is ready, put 2-3 teaspoons on a plate and if after cooling it has hardened and the fruits are cooked it means that the jam is ready.

The jam should not be boiled much, because boiling destroys the vitamins, and the forced redness of the quinces destroys the substance that helps gelling, namely pectin. I learned this from my grandmother and I always took it into account.
