Strawberry Lemonade

Fresh strawberries, hand-squeezed lemons, and water — the recipe may be simple, but it makes for a refreshing summer combination whose tartness and sweetness you can modify to your own taste using cold water. The strawberries should provide enough sweetness, but you can add some agave nectar or sugar if you really feel like you need to amp it up.

Ingredients

  • 2 containers strawberries, puréed
  • 6 lemons, squeezed
  • Water

Directions

Purée strawberries and strain through a cheesecloth over a pitcher. Stir in the lemon juice and fill the rest of a half-gallon container with cold water. Chill and serve.


Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade Recipe

This bubbly summer refresher takes classic lemonade to the next level by adding strawberries and sparkling water. Make the strawberry lemonade mixture up to two days in advance, but wait to add the sparkling water until you're ready to serve.

Ingredients

¾ cup sugar
¾ cup water
16-ounce container fresh strawberries, cleaned and hulled
¾ cup fresh lemon juice (about 10 large lemons)
3 cups naturally-flavored strawberry sparkling water*

Directions

Before you begin: Wash your hands.

  1. Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  2. Combine strawberries and half of cooled sugar mixture in a blender. Cover and process until very smooth, about 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a 2-quart pitcher.
  3. Stir in remaining sugar mixture and lemon juice. Add sparkling water just before serving.

EASY STRAWBERRY LEMONADE

My little guy is obsessed with the Starbuck’s Strawberry Lemonade and we still get it on the regular when we’re out running errands. BUT we also love making it at home because it’s so simple to whip up.

If you’ve never tried it, it’s simply strawberry puree stirred into your favorite lemonade. We like to use this homemade lemonade recipe but it works with your favorite lemonade, whatever that may be.

Why would you make Homemade Strawberry Lemonade from scratch when you can make it with powdered Country Time Pink Lemonade, Crystal lite or Minute Maid? Because this easy recipe is sooooo much better than any mix you could buy at the store. One sip and you’ll never go back to powdered drink mix again.

HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY LEMONADE FROM SCRATCH

If you have about two minutes, a glass filled with ice and like refreshing beverages….you can make this drink.

Hull and slice the strawberries.

Puree the strawberries in a food processor or blender.

Strain the puree through a mesh sieve, if you want. I skip this step because I don’t mind the strawberry bits in my drink.

Add 2-3 tablespoons of strawberry puree to the bottom of a glass.

Pour the lemonade into the glass and stir.

If you don’t have homemade lemonade already made, it’s quick and easy to make with this Simple Syrup and some fresh squeezed lemon juice. And you can adjust the flavor to be either as sweet or as tart as you want.

Simple syrup is just a mixture of water and sugar boiled until the sugar dissolves. It’s shelf stable so you can make a big batch to use as a sweetener for so many other drinks, too.

IS PINK LEMONADE THE SAME AS STRAWBERRY LEMONADE

Typically, Pink Lemonade is made with food coloring but it’s just lemonade that’s been dyed pink. If you can find pink lemons (they DO exist), you can make a naturally pink hued lemonade from scratch.

BUT, Strawberry lemonade is, technically, pink so you can call it whatever you want…really.

HOW TO FREEZE LEMONADE CONCENTRATE

If you want to make this in advance, stir together the lemonade and strawberry puree. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for up to 6 months.

Thaw at room temperature and serve chilled over ice.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

  • Simply serve over ice with sliced lemons and strawberries.

To do my part, I’m making the most refreshing cocktail, strawberry lemonade.

I make non-alcoholic strawberry lemonade often and keep it in these beautiful glass canisters on the kitchen counter for my family to enjoy.

But when we are celebrating an event with family and friends, I will spike it up with some vodka.

So you can make this strawberry lemonade recipe both with or without alcohol. Just leave the vodka out if you want to make it non-alcoholic.

This cocktail is super easy to make and I know you’ll love it.

I’m telling you, it will be your new favorite summertime drink!

And here are a few extra tips to make this taste even better.

Try to use the freshest ingredients possible.

The best strawberry lemonade I made was mixed with fresh strawberries from the garden.

They were so soft and juicy, so it really made the drink.

If you don’t grow them yourself, consider picking some fresh berries up from a local farmstand.

Because fresh berries taste the best.

They work on limes, lemons and smaller oranges.

Squeezing lemons with this juicer makes this beverage even easier to make.

And I use it in so many other dishes all the time.

Having a good blender on hand is important to having all the flavors meld together.

It still works but doesn’t blend as well as it used to. I’ve been holding off getting a new one but it feels like it’s time.

Recipe Testing Honey Sweetened Strawberry Lemonade: What Works & What Doesn’t

  1. Sweetness. What you’ll appreciate most about this drink recipe is that it’s not overly sweetened like the store-bought sugary lemonade drinks we’re used to. You can really taste the pure flavor of lemon and sweet strawberries. Plus, you have complete control over the added sweetness. If your strawberries are extra sweet, scale back on the honey. If you want your drink a little sweeter, add more.
  2. Take it up a notch. Feel free to turn this strawberry lemonade into a cocktail. A splash of rum or citrus-flavored vodka makes a perfect pairing.
  3. Switching into high gear. Make sure you have a powerful blender that will blend up the strawberries. We love this blender because not only is it strong, it works as a food processor or chopper too.

Tip: This strawberry lemonade is frothy right out of the blender so if you’d like the froth/foam to settle down before drinking, place the lemonade in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours before serving. In fact, it tastes even better on day 2 after the flavors have a chance to settle– just like this apple cider sangria.


  • 1½ cup (350 ml) cold water
  • 1 lemon, or lime, ends trimmed and discarded, remainder cut into 4 equal slices (between 1/4 and 1/2 inch thick)
  • 3 strawberries, hulled, quartered
  • ¼ cup (60 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 cups (260 g) ice cubes
  1. Place ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
  2. Select the lowest setting. Start the machine, increase to its highest speed, and run for 30 to 45 seconds.
  3. Serve with extra ice if desired.

Recipe Summary

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 cups sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1 ½ cups chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 8 lemons (1/2 tsp. zest, 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups juice)
  • Lemon slices
  • Ice cubes

For simple syrup: In a large saucepan combine 3 cups water, the sliced strawberries, and sugar. Bring to boiling, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add chopped mint cover and let steep 30 minutes. Using a fine-mesh strainer, strain syrup to remove mint and berries. Let cool.

In a pitcher combine 3 cups cold water, the simple syrup, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Add lemon slices along with additional strawberry slices and mint leaves. Chill up to 4 hours before serving. Serves 8.

For a sweeter, more kid-friendly version of this summertime sipper, you'll want to stick to the 1 1/2 cups lemon juice.

Fresh Strawberry Lemonade Will Be Your New Summer Staple [+ How-To Video]

In a small saucepan, add water and sugar and heat over low/medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves entirely (about 3 to 4 minutes) to make a simple syrup. Set aside and allow to cool.

While your simple syrup is cooling, wash and dice up all of your strawberries. Set aside.

Squeeze all of your lemons (about 8 whole lemons) using a hand press. Remember to keep a few extra wedges for garnish if desired.

Once your simple syrup has cooled, add everything but ice into a blender and blend for about 90 seconds until well blended.

Pour your blended mixture over a strainer so that the liquid drains into a jug or canister of your choice. Reserve all liquid and discard the leftover strawberry purée.

Add about half a cup of ice to each glass and pour about 1 cup of lemonade over ice and garnish with a lemon wedge or strawberry if desired. Enjoy!

More and more places are starting to sell different versions of strawberry lemonade but this easy homemade strawberry lemonade recipe is even better. It’s quick to make, uses fresh strawberries, and it’s perfect for summer.

4-Ingredient Strawberry Lemonade Concentrate Recipe

Love how easy it is to make this homemade strawberry lemonade recipe. You only need 4 ingredients – strawberries, lemon juice, sugar, and water. And you can even make a bunch of the strawberry lemonade concentrate in advance and freeze it for later! Then just thaw and add water!

One pound of fresh whole strawberries will equal about 2 cups of hulled and pureed strawberries. This is my favorite little tool for hulling strawberries! Easy, quick, and little waste. The Chef’n StemGem huller is the best one I’ve tried.

Note: I sometimes use erythritol sweetener in place of the sugar because it measures like sugar and is zero net carbs. The ones I have used with success so far are Swerve Sweetener and Lakanto Monkfruit Sugar Substitute.

Making the Strawberry Lemonade

First, wash and hull the strawberries, then throw them in the blender and blend until pureed to your desired texture, chunky or smooth.

When you’re loading the blender up with your strawberry lemonade ingredients, put the lemon juice, sugar, and ONLY 1 cup of ice water in your blender, then add the 2 cups of whole strawberries.

I prefer fresh lemon juice for the fresh lemon flavor. It usually takes about 3 ½ to 4 lemons to get 1 cup of lemon juice, depending on the size of the lemons. My favorite lemon juicer is the Chef’n FreshForce Citrus Juicer. I’ve had it for a few years and it works well!

Once you’ve blended your strawberry lemonade concentrate, put it in a pitcher and then add the remaining 4 cups of chilled water or transfer it to a freezer bag to freeze for later.

If you have any leftover strawberries from making this thirst-quenching beverage, you can have them on the side for even more refreshment. Enjoy!
