Stuffed peppers in tomato sauce

Stuffed peppers in tomato sauce

We choose the rice, wash it well and drain it in a sieve. We clean and wash the onion, then finely chop it.

In a pan, sauté the onion with the rice and a little tomato juice (or tomato paste) in hot oil for no more than 4-5 minutes, without browning them. Set the pan aside and let the composition cool.

In the bowl of minced meat we put the hardened rice and onion and season with salt, pepper and paprika, to taste. Mix the ingredients well and leave to cool a little, so that the flavors blend.

Meanwhile, put the peppers in a sieve and let them thaw and drain.

We fill the peppers with the above composition and place them in a suitable bowl, so that they do not overturn. Pour tomato juice until it covers them and bring them to the right heat (medium to low) so that the composition does not come out of them. In order for the peppers to be immersed in the liquid, they can be covered with a saucer or a lid to press them. Let it boil for more than 60 minutes. When they are ready, turn off the heat and let it cool, with the lid on the pot.

Good appetite!

Health Arena - Tomato and tomato juice - in history and in health recipes

Cecilia Caragea: Dear ones, I am glad to meet you again in our column Health Arena. Today we decided to talk about tomatoes and tomato juice. Don't you remember with great joy the moments from childhood when you prepare broth with your grandparents? Today we want to talk about tomatoes and tomato juice, about their health benefits, but as we are used to, we also want to talk about the stories related to them. Because we have to be honest, they have some very interesting stories.

Rosia comes from the American continent and, once she arrived in Europe, we must admit that she was not received with open arms. It was considered poisonous, it was considered to have evil properties & # 8211 meaning it was something very beautiful, but something you had to be afraid of. Why? What exactly happened? Some English nobles wanted to eat tomatoes and began to have stomach pains. It is said that some of them even died. They ate tomatoes from pots made of lead tin. And in contact with the acidity of the tomatoes, all sorts of toxic substances developed there and those substances hurt them, not the tomatoes themselves. But it took centuries before people were convinced of such a thing. Tomatoes were initially accompanied in Europe by a series of legends that did not put them in a very good light.

But the tomatoes were beautiful, look at them how beautiful they are. They were beautiful even then, even if at that time the tomatoes were smaller and had a more yellow color. That is why in Italian they are called pomo d’oro, a kind of golden apple. Then we know that these fruits - because they are fruits, even if we call them vegetables. These fruits were used by the Aztecs and Incas long before the Spanish conquerors reached the American continent. They were called tomatl. From here we took the name and we call them tomatoes. These tomatoes, these pomo d’oro began to be promoted in Europe, of course, by the Spaniards. They couldn't fail because they are beautiful and they are good.

However, in England, a reluctance towards tomatoes continued and this reluctance towards tomatoes was carried by the British in the USA as well. And there it was believed that tomatoes are not good for health, that tomatoes are poisonous. That is until a certain point in time a gentleman, upset by a court decision, said he was poisoning himself, that he was committing suicide in the public square, in fact in front of the Boston court. And how did he choose to commit suicide? He said he ate a pound of tomatoes. He ate a kilogram of tomatoes in front of the court and, of course, did not suffer anything. Because if he didn't eat the tomatoes in those lead tin cans, obviously he could not suffer anything. Then everyone was amazed. How? Did he eat tomatoes and not die? So tomatoes might be good, it might be a story that you die if you eat tomatoes. And so, little by little, people started eating tomatoes and saw how tasty they are. Eventually, the English took their heart in their teeth and said that they were also trying to eat tomatoes. And they saw that I suffered nothing. And then, they also included tomatoes in their own kitchen.

But the English were not the only ones who were scared of tomatoes, who were afraid of these tomatoes. And in German folklore, tomatoes were not welcome because they were too beautiful to be considered good. And then, it is said that especially witches used tomatoes to summon forest spirits, to interact with werewolves, wolves and so on. And that's why, in Old German, tomato is called the fruit of the wolf. Eventually, legends arrived in Europe that the tomato is an excellent aphrodisiac. So in the case of the Germans, from the wolf fruit, the tomato became an apple of love. Even today, tomatoes still appear in all sorts of superstitions. It is said that if you place a tomato on the windowsill, it drives away evil spirits, drives away werewolves and brings luck and prosperity to the house. As a young woman, if you dream of tomatoes, it is said that you will find your bear in a very short time. However, anyone who dreams of tomatoes is said to have happiness.

But tomatoes are not only in the center of certain superstitions, they are also in the center of parties, in the center of festivals. We have all heard of La Tomatina, the famous festival in Spain, which takes place on the last Wednesday of August, since 1944. What's really going on there? A general beating with tomatoes. But such tomato festivals also take place in Colombia and China. How did this La Tomatina festival come about? In 1944, some young people who had a dispute on the street and wanted to fight and, of course, they did not want to use who knows what weapons of attack, but something more in play, resorted to tomatoes in the market. And that's how this festival came about. We must say that tomatoes are not very expensive and then they allowed themselves to use tomatoes from the market to fight tomatoes.

Tomatoes are plants that love heat and light. We only know that tomato seeds germinate at over 10 ° C, it works best at 24 ° C. Maybe you remember these things from your childhood nurseries when you planted tomatoes with your grandparents. It also needs a lot of light, but it is not very pretentious in terms of humidity. However, having some shallow roots, irrigation is needed to grow tomatoes. Given all this, we can clearly see where more tomatoes are grown around the world: in China, USA, Turkey, Egypt. In Europe it is cultivated, of course, in Spain. It is also cultivated in Romania, we have some extraordinary varieties. You probably remember those ox-heart tomatoes, which were so big, juicy, beautiful, extraordinary.

It is said that tomatoes are very good for the heart, for heart health. And as you know, there is a whole theory that vegetables and fruits are good for certain organs they look like. And then, tomatoes would be good for the heart - so they say in traditional medicine. But we see that today, when researchers study the composition of tomatoes, they see that, indeed, they contain a number of substances that are good for the heart. Because tomatoes today lower cholesterol and blood pressure, they do very well for blood vessels and the heart. Tomatoes contain a whole series of substances that balance our body. They have antioxidant and detoxifying properties, they are said to be very good in cancer prevention, especially in prostate cancer. So, tomatoes are very good for our health, they are worth eating.

Tomatoes are also good for our beauty. You are probably not very used to cosmetic masks with tomatoes or all kinds of lotions with tomato juice. They exist and are really good for oily skin and for problem skin, in particular. There is a very popular anti-acne lotion recipe: 100 ml of tomato juice, 1 g of glycerin and a maximum of 40 ml of alcohol. All this combined is, in fact, a very good anti-acne lotion for oily skin that cleanses the skin in the morning, evening or when exposed to dust. It is said that this lotion does very well against blackheads. But tomatoes are very good not only for oily and acne prone skin. It is said that they are also very good for growing hair. Therefore, it is recommended that, from time to time, those who have such problems massage their scalp, scalp with tomato juice - This is due to the content of vitamin A, which helps hair growth, which makes hair strong and shiny. But beta-carotene in tomatoes also helps the skin to cope with the sun's harmful rays, and lycopene in tomatoes helps the skin stay firm and elastic.

So, if we eat tomatoes, we are good for our health and beauty. It's not hard at all - once the tomato was accepted it easily penetrated all the kitchens of the world. And today, there are traditional recipes with tomatoes in almost every kitchen in the world. And perhaps the most well-known recipe with tomatoes is the tomato soup, which is also very simple to make and can be made by anyone, even if it is an antitalent in the kitchen.

Tomato soup

Ingredients: 6 large tomatoes, 2 green peppers, broccoli and a celery.

Method of preparation:

  1. Cut the vegetables into small cubes and cook over medium heat for 20 minutes.
  2. Add a tablespoon of olive oil to improve digestion, and season with basil, a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Depending on your preferences, you can enjoy hot or cold soup.

It is very easy to prepare and keeps very well in the cold. So, a tomato soup is excellent, especially in summer because you can eat it cold and it has an extraordinary cooling effect. The Spaniards are very well known for their gazpacho, which is actually a cold tomato soup. But tomatoes are also very good for preparing something quickly. And that is why they are very loved by housewives. Let's think about it, pasta with tomato sauce and basil. You can make that tomato sauce quickly at home. And the pasta boils very quickly. So, if you need to prepare something quick - pasta with tomato and basil sauce is the perfect recipe. And, if you want to know how to make tomato sauce, you can go on accmediachannel.ro at this post and you will find the recipe there.

Easter with tomatoes and basil

Method of preparation:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the oil, garlic (cut into slightly larger pieces) and salt.
  2. Finely chop half the amount of tomatoes and add to the bowl.
  3. Cut the other amount of tomatoes in half and mix together with the other ingredients from points 1 and 2. Mix and set aside for half an hour.
  4. Separately, boil salted water, and when the water starts to boil, add the pasta. Careful! They are boiled according to the instructions written on the package.
  5. After draining, the pasta is put in a bowl with the other ingredients (from point 1, 2 and 3).
  6. Stir and add Parmesan and basil.

So, the tomatoes we all have in the house can get us out of a lot of trouble. I hope you liked this short foray into the history of tomatoes, I hope you find useful these health recipes and these beauty recipes in our section Health Arena . I hope you enjoy a glass of tomato juice now. At least I got used to it from childhood, so that from time to time, I would enjoy a glass of tomato juice. Good health and see you next time!
