Artist Damien Hirst and Architect Frank Gehry Collaborate with London’s Sexy Fish Restaurant

Artist Damien Hirst and Architect Frank Gehry Collaborate with London’s Sexy Fish Restaurant

The new restaurant for food and art lovers opens October 19, 2015 in Berkeley Square

Sexy Fish’s menu will focus on gifts from the sea.

Caprice Holdings, the blue-chip restaurant group responsible for J. Sheekey, Scott’s, and The Ivy will debut their Sexy Fish restaurant on October 19. Sexy Fish’s contemporary Asian menu will focus on fish and seafood in a 190-seat venue in the heart of Berkeley Square, helmed by British chef and Zuma alum Ben Orpwood. The exclusive Coral Reef Room, their lower-level private dining space, will feature its own bar and the world’s largest coral reef tank.

Sexy Fish is also set to be a mecca for art and design lovers, as renowned artist Damien Hirst and iconic architect Frank Gehry have contributed artworks for the restaurant’s design. Gehry’s installations will include the largest single-venue collection of his famous Fish Lamps to hang above the bar, while Hirst’s three site-specific projects include a large bronze panel involving a mermaid and shark, paying homage to his legendary 1991 artwork The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living.

Sexy Fish is owned by billionaire mogul and restaurateur Richard Caring. Laura Montana, Caprice Holdings’ new projects operations director, says that Caring, “wants to bring some fun, life, and excitement to this corner of Berkeley Square, with the magic mix of a compelling physical environment, full of lively contemporary art, and an alluring menu that will appeal not only to the fashionable Mayfair crowd, but also a wider audience of food and art lovers.”

Best new restaurants in London, the hottest Sexy Fish, designed by Martin Brudnizki

What are the new restaurants in London? Flashbulbs were popping last week at the opening party of Sexy Fish, the Asian-inspired seafood restaurant brought to you by the people behind The Ivy. Best restaurants in London, just added Sexy Fish, the most lavish London restaurant to this list, and had Martin Brudnizki interior design studio inspirations! This is the kind of Best restaurants in London, that never been said about “that” name other than others we love so much in London!

The restaurant opened to the public this week! The problem? If you’ve tried and failed to get a table, there are a few reasons that you didn’t get a table ’cause hollywood stars as Kate Moss, Rita Ora, Topshop owner Sir Philip Green and his daughter Chloe, actress Lindsay Lohan, Goldie Hawn and singer Ciara, were some of the few that already reserved one table. All the ingredients to spicy the new restaurants in London that you’re seeking, right?

The concept behind this new restaurant in London: Sexy Fish is rumoured to have cost £15 million to produce. Surprised us that cost that little. Martin Brudnizki Design Studio could almost have been given a blank cheque to cover every inch of floor with Iranian Esmeralda onyx every counter with red lava stone every seat with soft raspberry leather. The private dining room for 48 takes it to another level with two live coral reef tanks (the largest in the world, apparently). Then there are the little things: a silver mermaid’s tail flicking out from a dish of crab salad a porcelain octopus atop the tuna tartare fish head taps in the loos…An opportunity to see Restaurant interior inspirations!

And the art! Hand-printed linen ceiling panels by Michael Roberts, Vanity Fair’s style editor-at-large, one of top USA magazines in fashion & interiors. Multiple Frank Gehry pieces: a 13ft glossy black crocodile in ColorCore Formica and silicone and 19 of his Fish Lamps above the bar. Damien Hirst, meanwhile, has produced three site-specific works: a pair of comely blue patinated bronze mermaids at either end of the bar, and a bronze relief panel of mermaid with shark.

Here, we bring you recipe highlights from the restaurant interior, including buttermilk popcorn chicken with kimchi mayo, hot and sour prawns with new potatoes and matcha and ginger marble cake with gingerbread ice cream. We believe that soon Sexy Fish be awarded with Michelin Star Restaurants London!
