HOW TO PREPARE Shaorma RECIPE:

I started with the thighs that I washed, cleaned the skin, deboned them and cut them into pieces. I put the pieces of meat in the pan, without oil, and I hardened them together with the spices, basil and oregano. When they browned well, I took them out on a shredder and chopped them.

Potatoes are the classic french fries, prepared softer or crispier depending on your preference.

I finely chopped the cabbage, sliced ​​cucumbers.

I finely chopped the garlic with the robot and then mixed it with mayonnaise.

The assembly process is simple: I greased the glue (heated a little in the oven before) with mayonnaise and garlic sauce, then I put meat, potatoes, cabbage and cucumbers. I rolled lightly and tightened one of the ends with aluminum foil.

We wanted it to look as much like fast food as possible. But I am convinced that it was just as delicious on a plate.

Shaorma can be a dish not only delicious, but also healthy. Unfortunately, the chances of shaorma from shaormers being healthy are small, even if we order it without fries and without mayonnaise.

Beyond potatoes and mayonnaise (which are certainly unhealthy), the problems that usually arise are related to the quality of the meat preparation and the quality of the ingredients. In order to maximize profit, shaorms must - of course - be prepared in large numbers per unit of time. Hence the most common shortcoming: poorly made meat. This overloads the stomach and can cause toxiinfections. In addition, the ingredients are chosen - in general - according to the criterion of the lowest price. Therefore, the meat may be of poorer quality and close to the expiration date. Another category of ingredients that clearly suffers from the need to minimize costs is pickles (in this case cucumbers).

Alternative The tastiest and most important, healthy shaorma on the market is homemade shaorma.

Preparation tips: Heat the glue a little in a non-stick pan, without greasing the pan with oil. Instead, sprinkle the glue with a little extra virgin olive oil. Grill the thighs and cut them into cubes. Stir in the garlic, chopped onion and kefir spices. Add the chicken cubes with paprika, pepper and salt. Then mix this mixture with cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and chopped meat.

Who brought shaorma to Romania?

"Only kebab and shaorma / It's better than soup", a Romanian song said years ago. Today, the big cities are full of shaormers. However, who was the first to bring shaorma (no. Shaorma in Romanian) to our country?

The shaorma's father in the Mioritic lands is a Lebanese named Nassar Ghaleb. He arrived in Romania in 1979, during his studies, to study medicine at the faculty in Iași. In 1991, shortly after Revolution, the Lebanese opened the first oriental fast food near the Ștefan cel Mare Stadium in the Capital.

Nassar Ghaleb's dream was to fight the Turkish donor, which had already invaded many European countries at the time. Subsequently, Nassar Ghaleb founded the first glue factory in Romania.

How to prepare shaorma with chicken and low calories
