John Kasich to Anti-LGBT Bakers: ‘If Someone Wants a Cupcake Make Them a Cupcake’

Presidential hopeful John Kasich implores the Republican Party to just ‘move on’ from the issue of gay marriage

“Let them eat cupcakes,” — John “Modern French Revolution” Kasich

Republican presidential candidate John Kasich has a comeback for anti-gay marriage sentiment that Frozen princess Elsa would be proud of: Let it go.

Kasich also believes that any anti-LGBT bakeries should just “conduct commerce” as a public place of business and not let religious beliefs into the mix:

“People talk about religious liberty, and I think frankly our churches should not be forced to do anything that’s not consistent with them, but if you’re a cupcake maker and someone wants a cupcake, make them a cupcake,” he said during the CNN Republican debate on Thursday. “Let’s not have a big lawsuit or argument over all this stuff. Move on.”

Last year, an Oregon bakery that refused to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple had to pay $135,000 in damages and the bakery was forced to close after the bad publicity.

Kasich has previously reported that he believes in traditional marriage, but believes the Republican Party has more important issues to worry about:

“If you’re in the business of selling things, if you’re not going to sell to somebody you don’t agree with, okay, today I’m not going to sell to someone who’s gay, and tomorrow maybe I won’t sell to somebody who’s divorced,” he said. “That’s my view, and if you don’t agree with their lifestyle, say a prayer for them when they leave and hope they change their behavior.”

Fathers’ day is perhaps the one special day when grown men get to celebrate their achievements, and reflect with their family. For many, father's day is the perfect time of year to say "I love you", in the most meaningful way, while still remaining within the boundaries of perceived masculinity. Over the years, what began with a mothers day tradition of giving gifts, crossed over to fathers, because equality wins! Rather than flowers, the modern gift giver is presented with a myriad of masculine electronics and toys, but for the select few, a thoughtful New York tradition can be the best gift of all.

Unlike other cookies, these spongy bundles of goodness are susceptible to gorging, as they should. At Gimmee Jimmy's Cookies, we've taken this into account, offering them in mini-black and white version as bundles of 12, 18, and 24. Our packaging makes these cookies special too, delivered in a beautiful tin and custom box, these delicious cookies present something for everyone to share at home, or on the golf course.

We've already talked about the history of Black and White cookies here, but did you ever want to know how to make them?
